Invitation link not opening? Here's what usually happened
Before you assume you were left off the guest list: it is almost always one of these four reasons, and most of them take a minute to fix.
You tapped a link expecting an invitation and got a signpost instead. We know the feeling: it looks like you were left out of the party. 😅
It almost never is. In the vast majority of cases it comes down to one of these four reasons, and most of them are a one-minute fix.
🎈 If you were the one invited
The link broke along the way
Links are fragile. They snap when a messaging app splits them in two, when someone retypes one by hand and drops a character, or when they travel glued to a sentence and pick up a stray parenthesis.
What to do: ask whoever invited you to send it again on its own, with no text around it, and open it by tapping it directly. No copying and pasting.
The link changed address
Event owners can edit their invitation's address whenever they want. That's a feature, not a glitch, but the previous link stops working the moment they do, even if it's spelled perfectly.
What to do: ask for the new one. The old one isn't coming back.
The event hasn't gone live yet
The invitation may exist but still be in the works: a photo missing, a time to confirm, one last detail to settle. Until it's published, it isn't shown.
What to do: wait for the organizer's heads-up. It's on its way.
The invitation was deactivated
Sometimes the event gets postponed, the guest list fills up, or it simply closes. The organizer can deactivate the invitation, and from that point it isn't available to anyone.
What to do: talk to whoever invited you. They're the only one who can turn it back on.
See the pattern? All four end up in the same place: the person organizing the event. They hold the controls, and they'll sort it out fastest.
🎯 If the event is yours
If the link that won't open belongs to your own event, run through this in order. It takes thirty seconds:
- Is this the current link? Open the invitation in Brindis and compare its address with the one you shared. If you were forwarding a link you had saved, it may be out of date.
- Is it published and active? A perfect link isn't enough if the invitation was never published or ended up deactivated. That status overrides everything else.
- Did you change the address at some point? If you edited it, everything you shared before stopped working. Resend the new link through the same places you invited people, family group chat included.
💬 If you checked all of that and still think it's a bug
It happens. If the link is right, the invitation is published, it's active, and it still won't load, then the problem is on our side and we want to see it.
Open a ticket from the app: the Support button lives in the top bar. Tell us what happened and paste the exact link that isn't working. That takes us straight to the point instead of guessing.
We read every one, and we answer. And if the mistake was ours, we'll fix it so the next invitation arrives the way it should: no friction, and in time for the toast. 💛
